This Privacy Policy describes how mathRise (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our app, including during registration, checkout for subscriptions and tutoring services, and while practicing exam questions.

Information We Collect at Registration

  • When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a securely hashed value — we never see your plain-text password).
  • If you sign up with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google to create your account.
  • We do not collect profile photos, government IDs, or demographic data during registration.

Payment & Checkout Data

  • Paid features include the monthly subscription, 1-on-1 tutoring sessions, and group tutoring sessions.
  • All payments are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. When you check out, you enter your card details on Stripe’s secure payment page — your card number, CVC, and expiration date never pass through or are stored on our servers.
  • We store a record of your subscription (plan name, status, and renewal date) so we can manage your access and provide support. We do not store your full card details.
  • If you purchase a tutoring session, we share your email address with our tutoring team solely to schedule and conduct the session.

Practice & Quiz Data

  • When you answer practice questions, we store the questions, your selected answers, whether each answer was correct, and the time you spent on the quiz.
  • This data is linked to your account and is used to generate progress analytics, track your improvement, and identify topics where you may need more practice.
  • We do not share your individual quiz results with any third parties.

Messages

  • If you use the in-app messaging feature to contact our team, we store the content of your messages and your email address so we can respond to your inquiry.
  • Messages are private between you and our administrative team. They are never shared with other users or third parties.

How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and maintain your account and access to practice questions, analytics, and tutoring features.
  • To process subscription payments and manage your subscription status.
  • To send you service-related notifications (e.g., password resets, account verification).
  • To improve our question quality, analytics, and overall app experience.

Device Permissions & Hardware Access

  • mathRise does not access your device’s camera, microphone, location, contacts, photo library, Bluetooth, or motion sensors, and we do not collect any data from these features.
  • The app does not take photos or videos, record audio, track your location, scan your contacts, or read files from your photo library.
  • If your device ever prompts you for permission to any of these resources, it is not initiated by mathRise, and you can safely deny the request without affecting the app’s practice, analytics, or tutoring features.

Third-Party Services

  • Stripe — processes all payments and subscription management. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to your payment data.
  • Google — provides optional sign-in via Google. Google’s privacy policy applies to authentication data.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

Data Retention & Account Deletion

  • We retain your account data for as long as your account is active.
  • You can delete your account at any time from the Profile page. Deleting your account permanently removes your quiz history, messages, subscription records, and login credentials.
  • If you cancel your subscription, your payment records are retained for legal and tax purposes but your account and practice data remain accessible to you.

Children’s Privacy

  • This app is designed for individuals preparing for standardized exams such as the ASVAB, TEAS, and GED. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
  • If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Data Security

  • All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant.
  • Access to user data is restricted by row-level security rules so that each user can only access their own records.
